Bits and Bobbles

A little story about a young man who was a soldier during one of the battles that occurred while the west was who had died on the property before the house had even been built. Having not received a proper burial due to the battle that had been raging during that time, he ended up be-coming a ghost to haunt the property and later the house itself. He didn’t mind too much, however, and actually enjoyed his time in the in-between where he spends most of his days protecting or pranking the tenants of the rental house.

She’s the captain of a pirate ship.
She ruled the ocean and the sea.
Yet she could not have companionship,
The serpent who had loved her had taken her key.

The key was to her heart,
And the serpent had stolen it.
This set her apart,
Making her a misfit.

She searched the seas for the thief
With a boy at her side.
They found the serpent, to his disbelief,
And they took her key along with the thief's pride.

She’s the captain of Queen Anne’s Revenge
Which a mere rower boy helped avenge.

There is an old legend of a ghost
Who would haunt the walls of the Blackburn house.
He would only come out at the lighting of the lamppost
And would wander through the rooms quiet as a mouse.

Sometimes they would hear him knocking on doors
And would open them out of curiosity’s curse.
They would see nothing but hear the creaking of the floors
For the ghost of the Blackburn house was invisible to the universe.

Only when the ghost would speak
Would the guests realize he was there.
His voice was weak
And the time when one could understand him was rare.

If they only knew that he talked of valour,
They would not throw him out and shut the door.
